I'm trying to get hold of a Vietnam visa before I go over there in June but keep getting told different information and prices for the visa. Has anyone been to Vietnam and got their visa before hand by post? Any help would be great!
I bought a VN visa before my 06 trip. Sent my passport to San Francisco express mail, included a prepaid express mail return. Visa was $45, postage cost $23. Paid $68 for a 30 day visa. I was pretty stressed out, my passport arrived in the mail 4 days before my flight.
My 08 VN trip, I used the 'visa on arrival' system. Cost me $42. I wrote about this in my blog:
'Off to SaiGon'. I will use the visa on arrival system again, I will NOT send my passport off in
the mail again.
Send me a PM if you have questions.
http://www.visa-vietnam.org/ I used them was pretty quick ad simple .Pay half on the net and pay your stamp when you arrive .Its cheaper and less fuss than using the consulate .
Are you flying direct to Vietnam or doing a whole Asia thing ?? Because you can sort out a Vietnam Vias in either Phnom Pehn or Veintiane. Will take a few days in either one of these cities but if your having a good look around then thats not a problem.
GL and have a great trip !
Thanks for all your help guys- great advice. I'm doing the whole Asia thing and going overland from china. I've been told to get my visa before as the other people i'm going with don't want to have to wait around.
cheers for all the help and i'll definately look into that website.
Just a quick note; You can only get visa on arrival if you arrive by plane! If you travel overland and use one of the land crossings you will need to get a visa beforehand.
The price of a visa varies from place to place.
