Travel Forums Asia One way flight into china

Looking at booking a short trip into china then maybe flying out of Vietnam. Has anyone done something like this and does having no flight out make it harder to get a visa for china ??

Also has anyone done the land border crossing from China into Vietnam ?? ( im thinking train at the moment but plans change )

Thanks Leon

It is not that strict now. Some people get a visa with no proof. But it really depends. You don't know whether you can get one until you try. There is a train T871 directly from Nanning, Guangxi, to Hanoi.

We went to China in December 2007 and got a visa with only an inbound flight. We stated on the visa application that we would cross overland to Myanmar but ended up crossing to Macau and flying to Jakarta. No questions we asked about our itinerary change when we left and the embassy was fine with the details of only our inbound flight.

Not done the crossing to Vietnam, but agree with Zoe-China that Nanning to Hanoi would make the most sense.

Thanks for the responces people.

I'll be using the Nanning train to cross i think. Its nice to be planning a trip again. Brings me out of those post holiday blues.
