Here is a link to KSR hotels.

I never stay in that area, too many drunk kids.

Here is a link to some hotels on Sukhumvit Road where you can take advantage of the Skytrain to get around town.

When you need a hotel recommendation always mention how much you want to pay per night.

One hotel chain that has various priced accommodation in the KSR area is the Sawasdee chain.

Three day jeep tour up north ??????

If you mean Chiang Mai - you will find travel agencies have all sorts of tours and treks to many places and various prices. From Bangkok you can take an overnight sleeper train up to Chiang Mai if you want. Lots and lots of travel agencies all over Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai with all sorts of tours and options.

Good luck.

I was in Bangkok last month and stayed at the Baan Dinso Boutique Hostel just 10 min. from KSR. What a find - this place was terrific, so I reviewed it on Tripadvisor. I paid 700THB for the room, and if you want a truly wonderful experience I suggest you try it too. It's more of a personal experience than just a bed - people so kind and generous there. Read my blog since it has a writeup on the Baan Dinso:

I'd recommend trying Soi Rambuttri which is a few minutes walk from Khao San Road; I much preferred it to KSR. There are plenty of budget options and places to eat.
