Im travelling to thailand australia fiji and USA. In your opinion is it worth taking a mosquito net and water purification tablets?
Im also thinking of taking a sleeping bag liner instead of a full sleeping bag, im planning on staying in hostels mostly but thought if i take a silk sleeping bag liner i could get into i might avoid the dreaded bed bug!?
What do you all think I should do?
if you are going to go into the outback or be on farms in australia in the warmer months. take some sort of fly mask to throw over your head. otherwise you'll eat a few dozen. the flies are maddening out there in some spots. but if you're sticking to the coast don't worry bout it. also you wont need any of that stuff for the US.
You'll be fine in Thailand. Most places have mosquito nets, and bottled water is very cheap, so you don't need to worry about tablets. I always use Thai tap water to brush my teeth with and never have any dodgy effects, so I think it's OK to swallow a little.
Thanks for your replies
What do you think about the sleeping bag liner thing?? Do you reckon I just take one of them rather than a full sleeping bag?
Sorry for the million of questions Im on a tight budget and dont want to buy anything you dont think I will need!
I just got back from Vietnam/Cambodia and I picked up a silk sleeping bag liner in Vietnam and found it really useful when the bedding was a bit sparse (some hotels) or a bit dodgy looking (like on the sleeper trains). Maybe just take a liner, and if you find that you really need a proper sleeping bag when you get to Australia you can always pick one up, rather than having to carry it around Thailand.
