G'day guys, your posts make an interesting read. We came to be here in the UK after taking a flight from Darwin to Singapore and then for 3months traveled about SE Asia...trains, buses etc.so have some ideas re bus/train/boat travel in S-E Asia if you're interested. We are going to head back to Ausse late next year via the trans Mongolian rail too. have not thought too much about it as yet, as have a lot to do here first in Europe. However, I'm keen to get some ideas, re places to stop, visas and these letters of invitation re russia. If you wish to know more about trains Hanoi to H C M, buses , slow boats in laos etc, we're happy to let you know what we did.... our next big adventure is getting our old transit motorhome around Europe (got 6months)....best of luck...cheers dalts and cel:)
