this question seemed to come up quite a bit when traveling. Being from Philadelphia my answer was always the same...

Will Smith

I don't know that this city will ever produce a more famous person. Kobe Bryant is pretty big but not quite "Will Smith" famous.

you english folk must have tons of famous musicians from your hometowns.

Nice topic

Not that many really hugely famous people from Sheffield but I'd guess the most widely known would be
Michael Palin, Sean Bean and Jarvis Cocker

Well Pim Fortuyn is from my city. He was a right wing politician who was assasinated in 2006 by a extreme left freak and professional animal fucker. If he was still alive he would probably have become the new prime minister of the Netherlands (a very charismatic man). It was worldnews, so you might know him;).

I'm originally from Ulm, the city Albert Einstein was born in. Some people even say they can see the similarities between us . But Ulm is not really my hometown anymore, so one of the most famous people from Berlin is probably Marlene Dietrich. She was a popular actress and singer in the 1930 and 40s. Very charismatic lady.

Most people probably think I'm an idiot. But that's okay as there might be some truth in it

Great topic. Googled this... I reckon for Melbourne it's a tie between Rupert Murdoch, Cate Blanchett and Kylie Minogue...

Well the only one I could find via Google was the sixth patriarch of Zen Buddhism.

Even though this dude is like everywhere famous there.
