I'm in, assuming it's close to me. Australia and Europe seem a little far. I would suggest Montreal for a North American one - there seems to be a number of posters from there.
Hehehe, the ever recurring question!
Well, there have been a couple of meet ups. The last one in Malaysia was pretty 'official'....
We have one planned for Melbourne for December or January. That is mainly Pete's doing and there are quite a few travellers heading down that direction so anyone nearby should be sure to drop in. I am not sure whether I'll be making that one as it seems to look like a january one right now.
I reckon there should be one in Europe sometime in May/June next year. I am working on something now but it's pretty fresh so I'll have to get back on that one. That's also being planned as something a little larger than just tp, more like a 'travellersfest' to counter the 'octoberfest'
There is also some talk of a Scandinavian one which I should probably stop talking about and arrange! As I am out of the country till the new year I was thinking of one in Jan/Feb up around these cold parts somewhere. Some more info on that one here:

Haven't seen much talk lately on a North American one but I have a trip planned to Canada next August and I am sure I could add a few days on either end to make it to a meetup!
Sam. Damn right. Stop talking and get on with arranging it!! Jan or Feb sounds good, especially if you pick somewhere more northern than Copenhagen, so there will be snow. TP's first snowbound meetup...
There was also big plans for a European one which went all summer with lots of interest, a date was fixed and then everybody slowly dropped out or had other commitments, so ended up with just Me and Raven/Nikki wandering around Dublin for a day! Was a good trip though.
Ok, ok, you're right! How about Stockholm in early Feb??? It's central so there are usually some good rates. Plus I have never been so it works well for me...
Alternatively, Helsingborg could be interesting....
Rich, which of the two has your preference and is there a weekend around there that works for you?
Hi Sam (and all),
Think Stockholm would be a better bet in general (over Helsingborg) as there's much more going on and will also still be wintery in Feb. It's wonderful to see when it's all wintery as well. Hbg is a decent little place and is much closer to me so would be ok as well, although it can be a bit harsh in winter with the wind off the sea, and is in no way guarenteed to be snowy etc.
I'll leave the where up to other people, as i've been to/through both on any number of occassions - if people have a preference of one or the other, or have never been to one and are interested in going to it, that's fine. I know this isn't helpful, but i'm also happy with most other Nordic/Scandic destinations.
As for dates, middle-late Feb is looking busy for me quite posisbly i won't be around much then, but early feb is ok - looking at the calender the weekend of the 4-6 Feb would work, and the previous one (29-31 Jan) might be an alternative. Workwise i don't know where i'll be, but the earlier i know a specific date, the easier it is to block off so that i can ensure i'm being sent to Tajikistan or similar at the same time...
Ok, I am going to get ahead of myself here and set a weekend a place
Stockholm, 4-6 February 2005 for a Scandinavian/Northern European meetup.... hope to see a few of you there!!! I'll definitely be there, the space is crossed off in my agenda so other than really unexpected, highly urgent alternatives, count me in!
As for the North American meet-up next summer.....I say we should base it in Montreal. Great city, great night-life, and more likely than not there will be a festival going on at that time. Plus it's my home town...I could be a personal tour guide to all that come! (There might be a nominal fee...lol.... )
If I could get the time off, I'd loooove to meet up in Stockholm.....problem is there are specific times when employees can't take time off (long story), and those dates fall into one of those periods! I hope you all have a blast though!
I have a conference in Toronto in September I believe.... that could be tied in nicely with a meet up in Montreal!!! What do you reckon; could it be in late August or early september (i have to check those dates for the conference still!)
Would be sweet; I hear nothing but good things about Canada!
