I am trying to plan a trip to Kenya for me and my girlfriend. I would like to do a beach and safari holiday, i can get flights from Manchester to Nairobi for about 800GBP in August.
I need help on the rest, everywhere i look is really expensive and only seems to do full package deals and that is only for the beach side (2500GBP) with safari another 400GBP each for 3 nights , 3300GBP in total.
I was hoping i could do the lot around 2000GBP, that is flights, accomodation, transfers and safari.
If anyone has any ideas on how i can do this let me know, and if 2000GBP for 14 nights for flights, accomodation, transfers and safari is well to low let me know.
If you're on a budget what I would recommend is that you get your flight to Mombassa and maybe one or two nights accommodation. Things get a lot cheaper once you're on the ground in Kenya.
The hotel you stay in may have links with a tour organiser/safari company which will be a lot cheaper. Be a little wary of using the first safari company you find and don't part with all the money at once.
Tourism is still a little slow in Kenya so you will have a bit of bargaining power.
You should get a three night safari and stay over in Tsavo or Amboseli for about £300 each - I could be wrong on this but I've never had to pay more than than.... ever (and even then maybe I was a little over the top???)
Unless money isn't a concern I wouldn't book anything until I get there and start by doing your homework now on the parks and animals etc which you want to see.
Hope that's of some help.
If you arrive from Nairobi - you can do a direct Safari to Maasai Mara or Amboseli. The after the Safari connect to Mombasa for the beach. There alot of affordable options for the Safari and Beach. For US$ 380 pp you can do a 3 days Safari. For the beach it will really depend on the location and quality of accommodation you are looking for.
