Hello

I plan to spend 2 days in Colonia Del Sacremento (Uruguay).

I plan to make my inward journey from Argentina (Buenos Aires) via the buquebus (the 1 hour fast boat)./

The problem I've been advised to book early (if possibly do it online) and I've been trying to look up at the burquebus site to see availability for my dates (July 24 - July 26).

Unfortunately, the website www.buquebus.com always display this message ''No trip found to match information provided'' anytime i put my dates.

I tried emailing their customer services but I got an automated resaponse back (in Portugues / spanish) so no joy.

Can anyone actually advice me on this? does the boat operate at this time of year or once can't book from abroad?

Please assist.

Thanks

I had the same problem when I drove to BA.. You can only reserve 3 months in advance.

The Buquebus runs all times of the year. I have never used their website, so sorry I can't help you there.

The terminal is like a place under seige, or was the couple of times I used it. I got a ticket both times for the exact sailing I was hoping for, but was down to the minute on it and was rushed through processing to cross....on the Argentina side. The Uruguay side is much mellower

My advice, if you can't get through, is to go down to the place early, the day before even, and get a ticket. It just takes the panic out of it. I speak Spanish, but was still confused as to what they were asking for. I had to pay some tax, but then not really, as no one asked me to prove that I paid the tax.

This is not as helpful as you want, I know. But it can be done on site. Just try to get there early.

Thank you all for your help.

This is informative as i now know that I can only book as far ahead as 3 months. I'll set a reminder on my phone!

Also, are there any taxes to keep in mind when one is about to make the crossing? Also, is it advisabel to take the 2 hr bus from Colonia to Montevideo just for the day?

I'm not sure if there are any ''Must-See'' tourist attractions in the capital city as we only plan to spend 2 days in Uruguay and specifically in Colonia.

Thanks for you help this far and I'll appreciate answers to these new questions i've posed above.

Regards,

Kkool

Hve recently been to Colonia Del Sacremento (Uruguay), via the ferry, it is very very expensive. Colonia can also be pricey.

Ah. This brings up a good point.

The reason I left when I did was that Argentina was supposedly about to put in a Reciprocation Fee for the Us and Canadian visitors. The fee was exorbitant...(but not as exorbitant as the fee Argentines have to pay to visit the US and Canada). If this fee is attached to the trip to Uruguay for a few days, that would really suck the proverbial bag.

If not, I didn't find the fee that expensive.

IF you haven't found a place yet in Colonia, I want to give you the name of an older couple who have a COMPLETE APARTMENT for ten bucks a day. I stayed there, and really just wanted to live in that sleepy little town for a while.

Is, don't delete me for fronting for a nice retiree couple, okay?

Dear All,

Many thanks for your contributions over the past few months. THANK YOU.

But I'm yet to have any luck with the Buquebus website as my trip is scheduled for July 2333rd and I still CAN@T BOOK ONLINE!

What an experience!
