Does my blog' subscribers receive an automatic e-mail, when I update or put a new entry on my Blog?

2. Posted by Sander (Moderator 4889 posts) 7y

They do when new entries get published (unless you specifically turn off the checkbox for that before hitting publish on that entry), but not on updates to existing entries.

Thank you for your reply.

Is it necessary that these subscribers, been registered users of TravellersPoint?

It isn't; these "subscribers" are the people who entered their email address in the email subscription form on your blog, and that's open for anyone. (You can see who your subscribers are on the manage > subscribers page in the blog management area for that blog.)

Yes I understand this.

But I am doing a test, I put my personnal email, like a subscriber.

I Post something on the blog, and I am not receiving any message on my e-mail.
I have de box Notify Subscribers checked, when I press the publish button.

Thanks for your patience.

Hmm, that's not good! *tests himself*

Yeah, I'm not getting a notification either. It's possible that they're queued nowadays, and only sent every so often - but more likely that something is broken. Sam or Peter will need to look at this and fix it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Yeah, thanks Ughitus. It was indeed a bug. I've uploaded a fix and verified that it works.

Hi -

I don't think it's working yet. We just posted a new blog entry yesterday and never received the notification (I had set myself up previously as a subscriber and used to always get notifications when we would add new postings). Now we haven't been receiving notifications for our last two posts (neither has anyone we talk to who is a subscriber). This has been for the past week or so.

Can you look into it?

Hmm, I really thought that was fixed I've just put in some code to catch when this happens again and I'll get a notification if it fails. Should help me track down the problem - or at least fix it quicker when it happens again!

I ran a test on my own blog and the mailout worked, so it's possible that it is fixed now also.
