I was wondering is anyone can help!
I am a 3rd year nursing student studying at Queen Margaret Uni in Edinburgh, Scotland.
In 3rd year we are required to plan our own elective placement which lasts roughly 2 weeks (10 days) and we can choose to go anywhere we like for it. The elective should be in the months of June-September 09.
Me and 2 other student nurses are planning to come over to Australia or New Zealand for it and are in the process of planning it now.
The area's we are interested in gaining experience in include: Accident and Emergency, Intensive Care Unit, Oncology and Neurology.
We would be very grateful if anyone can offer us any information about organising this placement or any hospitals that will accept us!
Try the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.
definitely start the process as early as you can.
my friend who is a nurse sent his paperwork to the NZ board of nursing like 5 months before he left for NZ. they finally get back to him telling him to resend a lot of info he had already sent. they did this multiple times. Then they asked him a couple times for his marriage certificate even though he's never been married. He came down to NZ, we traveled for a month while he waited for the paperwork to go through. He stayed in the country for another month after I left, trying to get it sorted out until he finally gave up and came home.
that was two months ago. A few weeks ago he told me they sent another letter asking for more paperwork. haha
so good luck to you, hopefully you have a better experience.
but I say definitely send out the paper work as soon as possible.
