Hey,
I am wondering if anyone has any first hand experience flying out of Luxor.
I am going to South Africa and I would like to know if the flights from Luxor are generally stable and un-likely to be cancelled, or if I should just make my way up to Cairo and leave from there instead.

thanks,

Gavin

hi gavin,my friend flew to cairo from luxor in january 2009,and when she needed to return to luxor a day early they were very good at sorting this for her so you should have no problems at all.

Hay Gavin,

Have flown out of Luxor to South Africa many times, all with Egypt Air and all via Cairo - swap small plane for big one kind of thing. Never had a problem or a flight cancelled.

I noticed last December that there are all new planes flying from Luxor to Cairo and have never had a delay due to any mechanical issues either.

I fly my clients in and out of there all the time and the only airport that has given us grief is in Cairo! :)

Have fun!
Tania

I have done London Gatwick to Luxor and back. A tremendously efficient little airport. The queues to get a visa were a little slow (about 1/2 an hour or so), but that's all. No worries at all.
