Very cool. Quite mesmerizing to watch actually. Lots of people dying as I watch. Would be even better if it had sound effects.. ie.. baby crying for every birth. "Uuuuugh" and "Aaaaaaah" sounds for deaths.

Cool! :)

Some very interesting data they've got there. Unless I missed it, Australia ranks second in terms of CO2 emitted per person, after the obvious USA. What do you guys have down there? I've always wondered how they calculate CO2 emissions and how accurate they are.

Australia has several problems:

  • big mining operations (aluminium smelters are terrible emitters)
  • dirty power stations, thanks to overly cheap dirty brown coal
  • lots of livestock, much of it for export (the countries buying that meat are effectively outsourcing emissions)
  • big distances to travel, so lots of driving going on
  • too many big cars
  • hot weather, so lots of air conditioning

And there's only 20 million people to divide that between, so it really stacks up quickly.

I didn't realise the world population was so high. It was five million when I was a kid. Then it was six million. Now it's almost seven million???
