We're a family of 4 including 2 kids under 5 and we'll be in Japan from 5-12 April. We will be flying in and out of Narita. It will be our first trip to Japan and so we would like to see as much as possible. When we're in Tokyo, we'll be staying with friends there.
I've looked up various travel websites, and have written down the names of places that appeared interesting to me.
Tokyo - Tsukiji Fish Market (for me this is optional), then Hama Rikyu Park, take ferry for cruise on Sumida River to Asakusa. Visit Sensoji Temple, hunt for souvenirs, Nakamise Dori, Ginza for window shopping, Kabuki play (maybe), Tokyo Tower, Ameyoko.
Train to Hakone Yumato, Izu National Park, see Hakone Open Air Museum, Mt Fuji?
Kyoto - Sanjusangendo Hall, Kiyomizu Temple, Heain Shrine, Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Ryoanji Temple and Golden Pavilion, Gion.
Nara Hiroshima - for the Peace Memorial Park and Hiroshima Castle.
Himeji Castle
Historic villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama.
And where should we go to view cherry blossoms?
Is it possible to do all these things in the time that we have? We're willing to take domestic flights if it means we save time, but I'm also thinking of buying JR passes.
Pls help me plan an itinerary and advise on the best way of travelling. Also, if you think something I've listed is not worth going to or there's something else I should add to my list, pls let me know.
Many thanks.
