Hi..

Im of to Bangkok with some friend in a few weeks, when they come back Im planning on heading of for some more travelling, and would send my extra stuff back with them?

Would any one know if I would be able to get a half decent backpack in Bangkok, and if so would it be at a reasonable price?

Or should I just get one before I go?

cheers

Leon,
There are plenty of places on Khao San Road and surrrounding streets to buy backpacks. There were also several vendors selling used stuff: travel books, clothes, backpacks on KSR years ago. I'm betting they are still in business.
I would buy your BP once you get there. Have a great trip.

EVERYTHING you could ever need is available in Bangkok, and MUCH cheaper than you could ever buy back home, pack as light as you possibly can, and just buy what you need here, you will save a fortune !!.

Good Luck

Kevin:)

There are good and bad packs to be found. Familiarize yourself with what goes into a quality pack (Stitching, hardware,... etc).

Most backpacks, especially around Ko San are fakes and vary in quality. Really, a decent rucksack goes a long way and will last for years. I bought one from England for around 80 Quid and its still going strong. If you buy in the UK at least you know a buckle isn't going to break after a few weeks of use. My friend bought one in Vietnam and it looked great, but after a week or so it started falling apart. Also, just make sure you buy one with a rain cover! :)
