Hi,

I'm off to America at the end of April for three weeks, so i go home mid may. What's the weather generally like at that time? I want to be prepared but I don't want to have to carry big coats or tonnes of summery shorts if im not going to need them!

Places I'm going to are: marco bay (miami), then over to los angeles, san diego, las vegas, san francisco, yosemite, grand canyon, and then over to the niagara falls and new york

Thanks!

The weather in California will be in the 50-60, temperature in the yosemite and niagara falls will be alot cooler, in NYC the weather fluctuates alot in April one minute it's 30 and then another day it could be 70

In L.A. and San Diego that time of year has an average of 55-70 degrees. San Francisco a slight bit cooler and Miami a decent bit warmer. Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon area will have a wider range of about 55-80. Buffalo comes in with an average around 40-60, with New York running about 5 degrees warmer.

So, you'll definitely need a jacket, but more of a medium/light weight one as opposed to a winter one. Some of these places might be okay for shorts, but I think you'd probably do well with mostly pants and a pair of shorts (if you are a person who likes to wear shorts. If not you'll be fine with all pants.)

Hope this helps you out a little bit

Los Angeles can be very hot, mind you. It can be in the 70's or even in the 90's in the valleys. But in the mornings there can be fog. expect 70 as an average

Speaking as a resident of Southern California, expect the following temperature range for Los Angeles:

Days: 72-84 degrees F. (22-29 C.) Hotter weather is possible.
Nights: 51-59 degrees F. (10.5-15 C.)

About zero chance of rain unless a system comes up from Baja California to the south.
Recommend sunglasses.

San Diego will run about 5 degrees cooler.
