How Di guys !!

Has anybody ever flown from Melbourne to Alice Springs with the intention of going to Ayers Rock... How long will it take. Will take a flight. But how many days of my holiday will it use up. Been told there is nothing else to see around there.. Just wondering is it worth it considering the time.

You can fly straight to Ayers Rock from Melbourne (a couple of times a week with Qantas), which'll save you from a long drive. There's indeed not much else around, but it's still good two spend two days there; one for Uluru, and one for Kata Tjuta. Halfway between Uluru and Alice Springs (if way off the direct route between the two) you could also visit King's Canyon, which is usually included in tours starting from Alice Springs.

I guess it depends what you're looking for when you travel to central australia. For me there was heaps to see, and because I had my own vehicle I was able to, some of the options are Ayers Rock, the Olgas, all of the West Macdonnell range gorges, Palm valley, Gosse Bluff, Kings canyon, Chambers pillar, Rainbow valley and Standley Chasm.

You could do it as quickly as two days, if that were the case I'd see Ayers Rock and The Olgas in one day and Kings Canyon in the other. Ideally you'd spend a couple of weeks there, check out my map and photos to see what's around.
