travel peeps!

need some feedback. i have an opportunity to do volunteer work for a kids/arts/non profit. the choice cities are either rio or salvador (bahia)....any info or suggestions are welcome.

my main goal is to help the kids. but being near beautiful beaches, cheap accomodations, safe...etc is also a good thing.

i await your advice!

I'm a Brazilian tour agent and I must stress that both cities are amazing! Beautiful beaches, nice people, tons of things to do, very rich cultural life etc...
Despite everything you may have read about safety in Rio, you'll have no problems there if you don't look too much like a tourist (no jewels, no cameras, no money in sight etc), like everywhere else in the world!
Both citites have organizations for children care and good-price accomodation options.
From Rio and Salvador you can go to other amazing nearby cities... (I love norhtern Bahia: Morro de São Paulo, Itacaré...)

If I were to pick one, I'd go to Salvador. But I'd surely spend 1 week in Rio if I had some spare time lol

Best of luck,
