Peter,

Can we have that?
It will keep the users on this site while they're browsing to external links.

Cheers,
Hien

Hi Hien,

This should already be the case for the external links.... can you let me know if there are certain ones that you clicked which didn't open in a new window?

Cheers,

Sam

Hi Sam,

Give this one a try. It doesn't open a new window.

Well, I was referring to the links posted in the forums. Was that what you thought I meant?

Cheers,
Hien

Okay, you probably noticed from all the deleted threads that I tried to make this work. Not quite sure why it wouldn't do it for me so am passing this one on to Pete. He is the 'master coder' :)

Hi Sam,

Deleted threads? I didn't know anything about that. Am I supposed to be able to see those threads?

Anyway, I looked at the source code. The target="_blank" property is missing from the anchor tag.

BTW, Peter has been missing in action for a couple of days. Hmm... is he on vacation again?

Cheers,
Hien

I thought you might have the notification for thread changes switched on in which case you would have seen a lot of test posts come by yesterday afternoon :)

Unfortunately the link is slightly more complicated than just adding the target=_blank tag since it runs through two separate tags (the main one is the one making the typed link into a clickable link). Somewhere in all that code my target=_blank isn't sticking, but I think now it might have to do with the tag being cached or something like this. Hopefully better luck today when trying!

Pete's around, just undercover :) He's been working fixing some little bugs that were around after the 'makeover' and also on another few projects.

Hey guys,

I have the answer to this problem. It's quite simple, but there's some other changes I made to the page earlier that aren't quite ready to launch. I'll see if I can speed up the progress on that, so we can get this up ASAP.

Not on vacation.. just doing other stuff ;) Mind you, at the start of the week I thought I would be off on another trip by now, but it's fallen through :( Another time.. next planned is a short trip to Tasmania. Jay (audyssey) kind of inspired that one..

Cheers, Peter

Hi Peter,

Glad you're back. So you're going to Tasmania to see some devils?

Cheers,
Hien

Hey Hien,

Yah, hopefully we'll see some devils :) Should be a good relaxing break anyway. Now I'll have to decide whether to take my laptop

Cheers, Peter
