The nearest Métro station to the Atomium is Heysel / Heizel. The métro in Brussels is getting changed some time round now, so I can't direct you on lines - ther wasn't a direct connection before but I think there might be now, or at least a shorter route round. www.stib.be is the website, and there is an English option also. A singe ticket is about 1,50€, but it is not that much more for a day ticket, especially as you'd need a return anyway - I think a day ticket is about 4€.

From Bruxelles Midi / Brussel Zuid (or Gare du Midi / Zuidstation, as it is listed on the public transport maps), it should take about 1/2, though again, if there is a shorter route now, it will be much less.

Thanks, I have the Eurostar tickets and I know you can get free travel for 24 hours, is this limited to trains do you reckon? Is food pricey around there that you're aware of?
Cheers :)

you are about right but the prices for the train whent a little bit up. so count for your trip about 2 euros for your ticket more
there is a direct metro connection and you go to heizel and it will be about 5 min walk then you can miss it :)

this is to look for the train, sometimes to take a train can be faster: http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/index.php this will be direct in english

and yes like jennah said: http://www.stib.be/index.htm?guest_user=guest_en will be for the metro hours

there are also buses but no english website for that: www.delijn.be
