We decided to go travel around Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia not to long ago, and being caught up with making all the arrangements, visas, booking flights ext I know came to realise we completely forgot about the more serious stuff like travel vaccinations!!!!
We don’t have long before we leave and were wondering if vaccinations is a must, I know it would be better to get them but will it be a train smash if you don’t..
Has any one else travelled these places without vaccinations and what precautions should one take.
Generally, vaccination is not required for Malaysia as long as you don't go deep into the jungles. Where exactly do you plan to go?
We are planning on traveling from the North to the South of Vietnam, then Thailand Phuket, Bangkok and where ever the road take us in Malaysia!!!!
No deep jungle trekking
I would definitely recommend having them although i have just got back from a Thailand/Vietnam 3 weeker and despite having all the jabs i have still managed to get Typhoid! Sat here sick as anything hoping these antibiotics kick in. Definitely worth trying to do everything to prevent tropical illnesses.
sounds like you're too late for HEP "A" & "B" - which are pretty useful - (you might have had them already on another trip??)
Get hold of a GP who specialises in tropical travel etc and find out wjhat you need.
Check the more rural areas for risk of Malaria too.
