Im going to Thailand in May for a month, I will be flying into and from Bangkok, does anyone have any suggestions about what to see/ do in this time? Im not keen on staying in Bangkok for too long and would mostly like to see beaches and temples? Also things that arent too expensive im on a strict budget!
Hey. Me too. I heard that obviously Ko San Road is a backpackers stop. I want to see a few temples (the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Traimit which has the Golden Buddah, and a couple others). I heard the Patpong night market is worth going to and there is also the Suan Lum night bazaar. Outside of Bangkok you can see the Floating market and Nakhon Pathom (a really tall temple), but I heard that you could usually go with a tour group on an all day excursion. And of course, nightlife.
Personally, I am just using it as a starting point. I arrive on a Monday and leave on a Wednesday I think. I would like to photograph the temples .. take a look at some markets .. get a drink ... then pretty much head to the beach. I am going to Ko Phangan, Ko Samui, Phuket, and Ko Phi Phi, before heading to Malaysia. And I'm also on a budget. Would you want to meet up?
BKK is obviously great. Unless you have specific reasons, dont stay more then 5 days.
Cant miss the islands. Phuket and Phi Phi are overcrowded. cant miss Phi Phi. i would pass Phuket. Tip: if you have the chance, dont miss Ko Lee Pae (Ko Lipi). Tiny and desert island near malaysian border. Btw, if you intend to visit Malaysia too, go to Langkawi island, very close to Ko Lee Pae. Large island.
In BKK sorroundings, try Ayuthaya, former Thai capital, historic city.
And the northern tribes.
I think one month is the perfect time for all that:
BKK and sorroundings: 1 week
Northern tribes: 1 week
Islands: 2 weeks
