Hi all,

I didn't receive an email notifying me that I had posted a new blog entry. The entry did show up in the RSS feed and was picked up by facebook, but I didn't get an email.

Argh, the mail servers seems to be having some stress issues of late! Double notifications, not sending out notifications, argh! I think this case might have coincided with a newsletter going out, but from what I'm seeing the newsletter never completed sending either, so am having our host check if there's a whole pile of notifications stuck in 'traffic'. Sorry

Any word on this? I posted a new entry today, and after 2 hours, still no email.

Hmmm, yesterday we had a massive backlog of emails due to the newsletter, but those were all cleared out several hours after I posted in reply to your post. I honestly thought your send out had probably just been delayed in the pile (around the time of posting there were about 30 000 emails still in the 'outbox') and this was not an issue. If you're still seeing it, it sounds like something different though. I'll go look at it now.

Just to double check, are you having the email notification go to a hotmail account or something else? Hotmail threw up some issues of it's own about 2 weeks ago....

Possible weird question; did the clock perhaps go forward/back an hour this weekend in the UK? I'm trying to figure out why it seemed to have stopped working then exactly, but not for everyone...

Nope, the UK clock switches together at the same time with the rest of Europe.

Getting paranoid about this being the same problem I fixed before, so I tested a few entries on one of my test blogs.

1. Write, then directly publish.
2. Write, save draft, then re-open and publish
3. Write, then publish with a future live date.

All three sent out notifications successfully. The third sent out two notifications, but that is a known issue affecting the entire mail server at the moment.

Any other specific order of events that maybe were hit?

Being held up in the queue from the newsletter would make sense, but you would have received those a long time ago by now. Unless they somehow got flushed out, but I'm not aware of any way that would be possible.

I did a mixture of these two, with a little extra.

Write, save as draft, re-open, publish with a future live date, go back in and re-edit, with the same future live date publish.

Just published a blog - no future date publishing this time, and got the email notification fine. I started it, saved a draft, came back to it, hit publish and boom - all good.

Must have something to the future date publishing, maybe.
