Cash or travels cheques....

Just wondering which one you would get a better rate for - cash or travellers cheques?

Nowdays, i go for cash and take the ATM card.
Ensure you keep an eye out when you use your cards, but it's the safest way to go.
I haven't seen anyone using travellers cheques for a while, even AMEX now have a preloaded card.

I suppose it may depend on where you are travelling. I've never ever carried traveller's cheques. But I have been to many many many places where they would look at you like you are crazy if you tried to pay by traveller's cheque. The flexbility of cash and the International Bank Machine are the way to go, in my view.

I agree with Picar, It's dependent a little on where you go. W.Europe for example seems to have practically done away with TC's. I found it hard to get one made, let alone cash.

Personally I think the death of the travelers cheque is well on the way. It's a shame, as the option to have cash even after they are stolen does not happen with credit cards.

Seems to be smart to bring over cash money when visiting Easter Island.
Just one ATM, and credit cards seem to be of no use there.

Never tried travellers' cheques, have always carried a bit of cash and also debit cards. Like others said, it's dependent on where you go, and in some places you pay a bit extra to take money out of the ATMs.
