Hello

We plan to go over to Laos from Vietnam in a weeks time and want to use the Tay Trang/Sop Hun crossing.

We will get the bus from Sapa to Dien Bien Phu but have read that there is (or was) only a bus 3 times a week from Dien Bien Phu to Muang Khua. Does anyone know if this is still the case and on what days the 3 are? We want to get the bus on Saturday 18th as our Vietnamese visa runs out on Sunday so if there isn't a bus on that day we need to know before then!

Also, next week is the Laos new year celebrations. You normally can get a Laos visa on arrival at this crossing but does anyone know if this is still the case in their holidaytime? I am guessing we'll still be able to get one but it may cost a few more $$'s than normal.

Thanks for any help anyone can give on this.

Sophie :)

Hi,

If you want to get a visa to Vietnam from Lao, it's possible for you to get a visa on arrival within a day (if you go by air); the visa fee is not too high for the urgent situation. Another way is to go to the Vietnamese embassy in Lao to get a visa code, which will takes you about five to seven days.

Good luck! :)
