Its amazing how you can make great friendships in 4 minutes.

Given language and cultural barriers.

Both new friends were in love and so they have something very personnal to share.

You'd know if you've made a good connection with someone in a matter of hours, when???

a. You can say whatever you want?
b. Be comfortable acting like you are on a holiday, not being afraid to express things that may lead others to think that you are insane.

c. laugh and laugh, especially, if you have a language barrier.

Ofcourse, its aint summer camp everyday. It aint cool to be too friendly.

I guess sometimes, we just meet someone that totally gets us.

and this made my boring big city tours, meaningful.

One of the great things about staying in hostels indeed! It's actually the main reason we created 'Social Bookings' here on TP

I agree, it's amazing how much easier it is in hostels/travelling. you can meet someone and within a few hours find yourself telling them things you would only normally tell your closest friends, and confiding in them about your worries, problems and dreams. It's also liberating to be able to be whoever you want, as no-one has any preconceptions about you like the people who know you at home do.

Some people dont get this Hostel socializing thing...

My Chinese friends just paid 5 nights of accomodation in a Chinese hotel, which looks like a place for lovers.
I was previously staying in a hostel. I had my bar and my internet, and now I have a small TV with Chinese channels.
Its a hotel and it aint for travellers. I would guess lovers. And if you are single, its the last place you would want to be.

And now I don't get to have anyone to share a taxi ride to a club. But I am doing the most cultural thing in China, which is to go to an internet bar. Its is as cultural as cruising the Pearl river of Guangzhou.

They thought they were doing me a favor. But I know their intensions were good. So I just try to be happy with my nice bed. I can't wait to leave for another city. And China has great hostels, atleast most of it.
