Hey all, just a reminder to be careful when driving on Fraser Island while you're over there, a troopy rolled over this weekend killing two. If you're not sure how to go about driving on sand please ask someone with experience or take a 4x4 driver training course. An accident like this is enough to ruin anyones holiday.

Wise words but you have to use common sense and they must have been going pretty fast to do that much damage training or not

I found driving on fraser interesting and challenging at times the hardest being the main beach and its creeks running out to sea that made drops across the highway

You don't have to be going very fast to roll a Toyota Landcrusier, which is what most of them are using there. Not only that but they load the roof racks with all the gear making them even more susceptible to rolls. They actually banned them for a while, but the tour company's got it lifted because..that's the only vehicles they had and they were going out of business. The biggest problem is the amount of drinking, and people driving in conditions their not use to, in vehicles they are unfamiliar with. Its a recipe for disaster. These accidents occur continually. When I was there, a week prior, two vehicles had a head on collision killing a few.

It is damn good fun though!
