were planning to go on holiday to orlando in august, my bf has a criminal record for theft from an employer.he wasnt sent to prison,he had to do commuinity service,this happened 7 yrs ago.
does anyone know what the likelyhood of him being allowed into usa

Your very best direction on this one is to contact the US Embassy by letter with all the details. They will, if they have to, make a decision on his right of entry - otherwise they will write back and tell you what the law is. It's the only way you can be 100% sure of what to expect.

It states on in the "Quick Handout Reference". link on this page: that you cannot enter the USA under the terms of the Visa Waiver Program if you have a criminal record, so I would imagine that the same conditions would apply to an actual Visa.
