I am seeking travel information about Turkey. I have been there before and this time would like to see the “off the beaten track” areas. I will have one day in Istanbul at the beginning and end of the trip, so would like to concentrate to those sights not seen last time or anything that should not be missed. Will be flying into Dalaman and staying in the area of Fethiye on the Lycian Coast. Please let me know of places or experiences that made your travels in this area memorable.

If you've been everywhere in Istanbul already - try ferrying to the Prince islands and take a bicycle there to see around. Its not crowded by the tourists and more familiar to locals - so I think it will be interesting for you. |

New question: Can anyone tell me the easiest/fastest/best way to get from Fethiye to Bodrum?? I'm hoping to meet a friend there and would like to to be best transportation for getting from Fethiye to Bodrum. |

Bus is your only public transport option. This is just guessing, but it looks like the local hub is Mugla (well, either that or Dalaman). This means taking the bus from Fethiye to Mugla and another bus from Mugla to Bodrum. There might also be buses from Dalaman to Bodrum too since Dalaman has the airport. Best ask somebody at the otogar in Fethiye. |

If u have seen much of Istanbul, why not try visiting Edirne, a lovely city to the west of Istanbul and close to the border of Greece and Bulgaria. Tourists often skip the area west of Istanbul so it wont be much crowded. Regular buses are available from the main Otogar in Istanbul and u will be in Edirne in 2 hrs and 30 minutes. This can be done as a day trip!!! Princess island is also nice and can be considered as another option. U can also take the Bosophorus cruise and get down at Sariyar, have lunch and then take a minibus to Kilyos, which is a beach resort on the Black Sea. Cheers |
