Good question Pranav, I am still trying to figure that out. I hear you went ahead and bought the 2009 footprint though...?

We used Footprint whilst in Peru. Found it very good for basic info like public transport and hostels etc.
Not so good for actual info on the places. Not as much as you'd get in a Lonely Planet.

I recomend you to look this webside peru.info

this page is from the goberment of Peru so here you woul see lots of attraction, hotels, etc. I think is the same for Colombia.

I think it is simple than a book.

Wikitravel and Wikipedia are a good resource for travel to both countries. Wikitravel mentions that there's a volcano that erupted recently which might be worth noting. Wikitravel - Colombia and Wikitravel - Peru
