A PLACE TO STAY IN MOSCOW?

I know that this thread has been explored many times but here we go again.
I've got to go to Moscow from May 19th to 22nd and need a cheap(ish) hotel. I don't like hostels where I have to share rooms, especially since I need to dress up for my daughter's graduation - not a very hostelly thing.
Anyway, I know that there's a shortage of cheap accommodation on the ground in Moscow but Maybe, just Maybe someone out there knows of a 'secret' place which hasn't been advertised anywhere.
I speak pretty decent Russian (at least I used to) so language is not a huge problem.
Thanks for any input you guys may have - you've never let me down yet!

Try using Hotelscombined It works in the same way as sites that check the best airfares deals. Once the first page loads, click the "Price" column header to sort them by lowest price first.

I know it was a fair few years ago that I was there, but at that time the YHA had double rooms with en suite bathrooms. Worth checking out. It was fabulous when I stayed there, people of all ages grouped together having vodka and chocolate parties (convenient kiosk just down the road!). Sensible people stayed there too, including an 80 year old Chinese man who would tour around with me and a 60 odd year old woman who one day just said 'sod it', packed her bags, sold her car in Alaska, hitched a lift on a cargo ship and picked up the trans siberian to Moscow. Awesome!

As for Altai, Ksenia... Wow, what a place! I'm afraid I've never made it so far but maybe someday I can. It looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks for introducing me.
