I booked a ticket from melbourne to Kuala Lumpur on the Air Asia website 2 days ago. The booking timed out, yet money has been taken out of my account. I received no email, nor do I have a booking number. Contacting Air Asia seems to be almost impossible as the telephone line is in malaysia and has a terrible echo, and they don't reply to emails, and I need to resolve the problem soon as I'm travelling soon. The online booking check doesn't work, and it didn't on 2 previous airasia flights so i think that function isn't operational. When travelling by Air Asia do I need to show a booking number, or will having my passport and the credit card used to book be sufficient?
Thank You. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What is it with SE Asian airlines? Cebu Pacific are the same, you can't book with a credit card that isn't from the Philippines online, they NEVER answer your emails and very rarely pick up the phone. I also need to book flights with them from Manila to Seoul but you cant book these online either, you have to phone a premium rate phone line in manila to book them!!!!!!!!!!!! What is that all about????????
What number are you calling from Australia? The local number is 1300 760 330 between 10:00 to 23:00.
The Malaysian call center numbers are:
+603 2171 9333 (Booking)
+603 2171 9222 (Inquiry)
Operating Hours : 8am – 9pm (GMT+8)
I looked through the FAQ on their site and calling their helpdesk seems to be the only way of resolving the issue.
What you could consider doing here is opening an account with a US company called Rebtel. They will create a local rate phone number for the Malaysian call center so that it won't cost you a fortune to call them. This is their site: Rebtel.com
All you pay is 0.029 cent a minute to Rebtel plus the cost of a local call from wherever it is you live. Because you're using the phone system rather than VoIP, phone lines are usually crystal clear.
You could also try using the booking verification system if you paid by credit card. See Booking Status Enquiry
Other than that though, it looks like your only other option is to persevere. Avoid calling around lunchtime if possible.
I had similar problem while i was booking a flight from UK to KL. some thing just got wrong with the website. I called air asia office in UK.
fortunate to say, the response and waiting time on the phone were good. the customer service officer help me to check my reservation. I got the reference number from the website, but it was not confirm due to the technical error in air asia website. air asia server was slow and traffic was heavy - claimed by air asia customer service team. but at the end, i re-try it after several hours later, and it works.
I would suggest you to contact air asia austrialian office
1300 760 330
Operating Hours : 10am – 11pm (GMT+10)
worse come to worse. try to call other offices in other branches or countries. good luck
Skype is your friend in these situations. Just call up any number in the world for a few cents and you can sit back and be working at other things while your on hold and not be fuming because they are slow to answer. I wouldn't risk just turning up at the airport if you haven't seen a conformation email yet. You need to get it sorted. Air India did the same to me and although they'd taken the money, there was no ticket in my name on their system.
