ok so i have a one way ticket to aus.. was going to work for a year but now coming back for another season in my old job.. means i have 3 or 4 months of.... soo when i get off the plane at hong kong... i want to stay and go to se asia... i like to see things.. i also like a good night out from time to time.... on my own so would like to meet some new freinds to travel with.. i have no idea about the cost of living... do you think 2k for 2 months in £ is enough ... would just want basic clean safe accomodation... nothing flash.... eat decent local food ... and have a decent night out once or twice a week... and obviously go and see everything there is to see... would be looking at vietnam thailand cambodia and laos..
any feedback would be great...

That's just about what I spent this year in Thailand and Vietnam. I averaged US$50. a day (approx $1500. a month) and I lived like a king. I bought loads of gifts, stayed in very nice guesthouses and ate mostly shellfish in homey restaurants. Some countries will be more expensive (I believe Singapore is expensive, like HK, Malaysia less so, Thailand less than Malaysia, and Indochina will be lowest of all). In my opinion, you'll have a better time in the cheaper countries too (I did!)

£2k for 2 months is loads in SE Asia if you are staying in basic accommodation and eating cheap food. I'd say I spent close to half that when I was in SE Asia, ie I think I averaged about £500- £600 per month living pretty frugally but still seeing everything I wanted to.
