This thread is marked as being about Finland

Hello! I am travelling with my boyfriend to Finland during the holidays and we will be in Helsinki on both Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Does any one have any suggestions for things to do, places to go, etc on these days? Are most stores and restaurants closed over these holidays? Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Also, if you know of any good budget hotels/bed and breakfast inns in Helsinki, please pass them along!! Thank you so much for your help!!

Hi Zenstar,

Not sure whether u would like to stay in a hostel.. anyway, in case u considering, may want to try out Hostel Erottajanpuisto.. it's located in the central of the city and is open during winter..

Hope this helps! :)

Hi zenstar!
Im from Finland so, i think i could be able to answer in your questions..All the restaurants should be open, and almost all the stores should be open too, im not sure though, there can be some exceptions..
If u are over 24 for the best places to go are: Hesari(Helsinki club), Teatteri and if u are 20 or over Baarikarpanen and the club are the places to go..There are some new places too, but i dont know so much about them, as im living in the UK.
I have to admit that i dont know much about accomodation in helsinki..all that i know is that its not very cheap but there should be couple of reasonable price hostels, and one is the one in erottajan puisto..
If u have any further questions im more than happy to help, or at least i try!!!
