I'm supposed to go to Portugal for a 10-day stay in mid-September, to Braga and then to Idanha-a-Nova and surrounding area. I know the general climate conditions in Portugal, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could share their first-hand experience on what to expect in September, weather-wise, since I'll be participating in several field-excursions there.
I suppose you will have the perfect weather for outdoor activities.
It's not that common to rain in September and the weather shouldn't be as hot as it is in July or August.
However we cannot guess the weather, can we?
It'll be a little breezy at night - but still t-shirt weather during sun-up.
the weather in september normally is quite ok and hot but you never know.
braga is cooler than lisbon so can be cold at nigh the same in idanha.nova, the diference of temperatures between night and day can be high.
Thanks all for the info, much appreciated!
I've been in Braga and Idanha-a-Nova (Castelo Branco area), from 8-17 September, and most of the days it was around 30 deg C, a couple of days were a little bit humid, but overall we had summer weather (sandals, tank tops and all).
The last two days (mid-September dates) there was a thunderstorm during the night, and rain during the day as well.
The nights in Braga (the first half of September) were warm, but the nights in Idanha-a-Nova were cool and sometimes windy (at exposed, eleveated spaces), enough for long-sleeves or a light (even windstopper) jacket.
