I'll have to assume you're referring to Visa on Arrival service? I don't know about Australia, but when I get an e-visa for Vietnam, I print the JPEG image Approval Letter that is sent to me. Check your email for an attachment - that might be your Approval Letter. (The Approval Letter for Vietnam has an official stamp on it.)

If its an eVisa, the email they sent you should contain a reference number. The visa is linked electronically to your passport number so when you arrive at customs, they know in advance which visa was granted to you. Print the email anyway, just to have a hard copy as a backup
