Budget Hotel in Singapore

I have just posted a new thread asking comments from fellow traveller about the hotels in Bugis, and just saw it being considered as spam, and posting a new thread here to get some advice.

Which hotels do you consider as the best budget hotel in Bugis?

ibis Singapore - looking brand new and clean (international hotel brand)
Bayview Hotel - looks like it might have a good restaurant (is this a chain hotel?)
Hotel81 - I saw many of this hotel chain in Singapore (local hotel chain?)
Hostels - cheap but not sure if I want to go back to my backpacking era...

Any advice or experience with above hotels? I am actually in Singapore and planning to change a hotel, by looking at it, I am putting ibis Singapore on top of my list at the moment...

Someone probably spammed your post cos it seems like one of those that are trying to get info for market surveys.

I dunno if iBis is new or cheap cos it's very new. The only two budget chains I know of are Hotel81 and Frangrance Hotel. They're everywhere. Those in the seedier districts are popular with the prostitues and their customers. Don't think Bayview is chain.

Really depends on what you're looking for for accomodation. The hostel crowd here tend to be the younger, backpacker sort definitely.

Actually, I've just been experimenting with the Budget Accommodation tool on this site and it's pretty good. To find it, click the Travellerpoint logo (above "Forums") and you'll find it about halfway down the page on the right.
