Connecting Flight

Travel Forums General Talk Connecting Flight

I just booked a flight with US Airways through The flight leaves Roanoke, VA at 1533 and arrives in Philadelphia,PA at 1709. I then catch another flight on to Dublin, Ireland at 2045. This is my first time getting a connecting flight and I'm not sure what to expect.
Both flights are with US Airways, so will I have to collect and recheck my luggage in Philadelphia? Also do I have enough time between flights? Also any advice for travelling through Philadelphia airport is welcome.

Thank you.

Your luggage should be checked through, so no need to get your luggage in Philly. Just walk with your handluggage from one plane to the next. But make sure they attach the luggage tag right, it should be saying DUB for Dublin.

I don't know Philadelphia, but 3 hours sounds like a decent time for changing flights. You'll have to go to security checks again because you'll be boarding an international flight, but apart from that it should be ok.

Have fun in Ireland!

You'll have ample time. And the fact that both flights are with the same airline - they should sort you out if you miss your connection.
I travelled from Heathrow to Winnipeg awhile back, via a change at Toronto - both flights with Air Canada. The LHR take-off was over an hour late (no change there then!!) and they held my connecting flight In Toronto. It's always so much better to get the same airline company right through.
Have a great time in Ireland. One of my very favourite countries.

I definitely agree with the above two replies. Have been coming thru Philadelphia a couple of times in the last few years. Three hours is PLENTY of time, so even if the incoming flight is an hour (or so) late, no problem. And when you fly with the same airline, the luggage is always checked thru. Enjoy the trip!
