Hi all. I'm off to Thailand on 21st of June from Dublin with 5 friends (2 guys & 3 girls). We arrive in Bangkok on 22nd June and have 1 month to make our way to Singapore. Then we are headin for NZ for 2 weeks and then on to Oz with working Visas for a year. If anyone has a similar plan or maybe just wants some company while in Thailand give me a shout. All are welcome. It will be great fun.;)

I think we are heading to Chiang Mai after Bangkok then possibly down through Laos into Cambodia (Angkor Wat) & then on to maybe Phi Phi or one of the islands for some relaxing. Full moon party sounds good to me as well. lol

Regards,

Will.

Hi Will

Sounds like a great plan, a few suggestions for you:

Route: Bangkok - Chiang Mai - Laos - Cambodia - Koh Chang - Koh Samet - Koh Samui - Koh Phangnan - Phuket - Phi Phi Islands - Krabi - Malaysia - Singapore.

The route is a natural path taking in everything possible along the way, one point you will need to consider is that you need to plan your time carefully in Thailand, as regards the Thai Visa, when you arrive at Bangkok on your international flight, you will receive a 30 day Visa Exemption, when you re-enter Thailand AFTER Cambodia "overland" you will receive a 15 day Visa on Arrival, so you need to plan your time carefully, as my suggestion would mean you spending more time in the south than in the north. You could always do a "Visa Run" whilst down in the south to give you another 15 day Visa on Arrival, but its not ideal.

Kind Regards

Kevin:)

Hi Will, my friend and I will be heading to Thailand, arriving on the 23rd June and will be spending a week there. If you like, we could meet up in Thailand and travel together. I am from Singapore, so when you and your friends make your way to Singapore, I could bring you guys around! :)

Hi there Lynette.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah that would be cool to meet up if you want.
Are you arriving in Bangkok on the 23nd?
I'm still trying to decide where we will stay in Bangkok. I want to book something (Nice but not too expensive, i.e. no bedbugs) before we go because we will be wrecked from the flights & will just want to get to a hotel and relax for the 1st day. I think the heat is going to kill me. lol
It's only 23 Degrees Celsius here in Ireland and I'm already hiding inside. lol. ;)
It's going to take a while to acclimatise to it.

Do you know of any decent hotels?
Also where do you plan on going during the week you will be in Thailand?
Our plan is to head to Chiang Mai after 2 or 3 days in Bangkok. (Cheap flights are available with Air Asia)
And thanks for the offer of showing us around Singapore. That would be lovely.
Are you on Facebook? It would be an easy way to keep in touch with you.
Anyway I hope to hear from you so give me a shout whenever suits you.
Kind regards,
Will.

Hi WIll

Im flying to Bangkok on the 1st July and staying there for about 3weeks.
Im travelling south to a full moon party which is held on the 9th July, which may well be worth a look.
Im then going over to Phuket, across to Phi Phi Le and onto Krabi (railay beach). Im flying then from Krabi onto Malaysia.

Ive booked my first nights accomodation at a place called Lamphu House. Its recommened in Lonley Planets SE Asia on a shoestring book. Only cost bout £8 or something stupid, but just wanted somewhere for when first arrive. Apparaently Khao San Road is the main place for backpackers, with Soi Rambuttri a nearby road, which is a little quieter but in walking distance. Thats where Lamphu house is....

Cheers....and i cant stand the heat in England either at the moment

Hey guys,

I went for a trip to Thailand and Cambodia last month. I stayed in this place called Lub D Bangkok. Its a hostel, pretty cheap one at that and really good. It had free internet access and the place was really clean and always accessible.

You can get to this place very easily from the airport by catching the airport shuttle bus towards Silom and getting down at Sofitel Silom stop. THe hostel is jus 5 minutes from the place where you get down. Its located pretty in the center of Bangkok and close to good massage centers as well :)

Hope this helped. Have fun.

Will - what's your budget?

If hostel like, there are alot at Khao San road. That's the main backpacker area.
If it's a nice relatively low priced hotel, I can try to reco a few that's priced around 2000Baht or so.

Shoot me a note if you are interested.

No - I'm not making a commission here. I just happen to go there a fair bit for work and stayed in enough hotels :D
In fact, I might be there first week of Jul.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I'll be checking all these hostels out but I've read a lot of travelers reviews on various places and a lot of the people seem to get bitten by bedbugs. I'm not too keen on that so I think I'll try and find a 3 star hotel in a good location if possible.
We will be wrecked after the flights so will just want to chill in some comfort. Sure we shall see what happens. Only 16 days till lift off. I can't wait. To be honest I'm a bit apprehensive but it's going to be great I'm sure. lol
Anyways Cheers!!!!!!!

Hi

It sounds as though its all coming together now, and not long till you fly out, I am sure you will have a great time, and a complete journey of discovery.

You mentioned that you had slight concerns about bed bugs in Thailand, I am sure those fears are completely unfounded, in life you ALWAYS get what you pay for, there are no exceptions !!.

Have a great trip if we do not hear anymore from you. It's been a pleasure assisting you along the way.

Kind Regards

Kevin:)
