Funny l never find London any more expensive than Belfast - but lm not driving into the city! Thats what the tube's for! Then again l had to cough up £11.50 to park in Belfast on a Sunday for 2 hours - about 4 weeks ago!! I also bought a rum in a bar here in Belfast and it cost £8 - EIGHT BLOODY QUID!!

Obviously an upwardly mobile town. Having visited Belfast twice in the past couple of years, it's evidently more prosperous than the historic but de-industrialised city - of similar population size - where I live. I am danger of saying something politically incorrect about where my taxes are being spent and all those eejits who complain about 'betrayal by the English' while we subsidise their industry at the expense of our own; not that I'm bitter ... and you'd never get away with charging eight quid for a drink here.

I'm 42.

I'm also fit, happy and content. I'm not rich, just middle class like most other people.

I'm 65. All my life I was under the impression that 65 is 'old'. I have now found out I was completely wrong all those years!

I'm a name - not a number.

Thank God! BGL, I thought I was the lone granddaddy on this site! I'll be 66 in September, but still going strong with very strong opinions, and a lust for even more travel.

Dawgon and Isadora, thanks for your response and comments!:) Dawgon, I'll be 66 in Jan 2010, so you've got me by four months... And Isadora, I'm sure people will listen just as well, maybe even more so, as time goes by. That's been my experience. And right now is the best time of my life! Seriously. OK, so I'm a bit slower now when I do a marathon race, but that's OK!
