Interesting so far. Does the 200 Baht include any sort of breakfast?? If yes, what would it consist of - and if no, how much would it cost and what's on the plate of the average brekky out there??

No, you don't get a breakfast at that price! You can eat breakfast at Lek or Apex Hotels open breakfast buffet for 110 baht - that's all you can eat!

Regular breakfast probably around 35 - 75 baht from small diners. You can get fried rice starting around 35 baht. I think the Boat Bakery is around 45 baht and you can buy a donut from their bakery. Food is cheap! Dead meat on a stick starts around 20 baht per piece from street vendors.

You can find a place starting around 400 baht and get hot water, A/C, cable TV and maybe even a refrigerator if you look around, especially during low season. Long term stays get better deals!

Local transportation in Pattaya is only 10 baht. So, if you are in a cheaper area of the city it won't cost an arm and leg to get closer to the night life.

So interesting this.
I've been doing Eastern Europe for many years - and got this idea in my head, from what so many visitors to Thailand have told me, that it's so mad cheap. Looking it what's been posted so far - there's very little in it, between Thailand and Bulgaria.
Keep 'em coming.

The girls are prettier in Thailand! Plus they don't have the big lace up army boots and mustaches!

It's really not that difficult to find a 180-200 THB room in BKK. Me and my wife always stays in such a room when we're in BKK, one doesn't need a fancy room when you're on the street all day.
At night we can take a shower (hot/cold) in a clean bathroom with a daily fresh towel, and they refresh your sheets every time you ask. So, we don't complain!

I have found rooms in Vietnam to be a much better deal than Thailand, and most come with breakfast, but most in this price range have no window.

Obviously Post #13#, you've never been to Bulgaria and you read a lot of fiction.

You must be quite young. The quip is a take-off from an old, and amusing, commercial showing communist fashion shows before the wall fell!

Stick with Bulgaria if you really want to, it's you who is asking for the advice.

Have a nice trip anyway.

Post #17#.... Bit of a strange assumption. I suppose it's like the 'not-travelled much' novice that assumes everyone from Thailand eats pickled spiders and lives on the floor.
You certainly do need to get out more.

"You certainly do need to get out more."

Well you are the one asking for questions about Thailand not me!

You are right, I should get out more, so far I have only visited or lived in around 30 - 35 countries - so many more places to visit and so little time to do it in!

We all make assumptions, my assumption is that you really don't want any help on Asia, you only want an affirmation that your choice to visit Bulgaria is the best choice you ever made in your whole life!

At least I don't have to stay in a [email protected] place every where I go!

Do you need any more information on cheap Thailand accommodations or are you just into chit-chat?

Have a nice day!
