Hello,
I will be studying in Rio de janeiro for about 5 months starting from the beginning of August. While I will have alot of time to visit places not that far from Rio during those 5 months I won't have time to do big tours in South America or Brazil. So I was thinking of going to Brazil or another south american country about half July and then making my way to Rio (with the bus?) during 2-3 weeks. I could maybe even make 4 weeks out of it.
I know there are tons of possibilities and routes so it's hard to choose.
One option that looks very interesting is starting in peru and going through Bolivia to end in Rio (by bus) Visiting Machu pichu, the Pantanal,.. on the way. But I don't really know if 3 weeks would be enough to travell such a distance by bus and still have time to stay a few days on the interesting places. The same for starting in Venezuela.
If I would do something like this I would only have 2 flights; from Brussels (Belgium, where i live) to Peru/ Bolivia/ Venezuela. And then one back from Rio to Brussels. But this seems to be very expensive
Another option would be to first fly to Rio, stay a few days and then fly from Rio to another town in Brazil like corumba or cuiaba and from there explore Bolivia and surroundings for a few weeks, then take a flight back from the same city to Rio. I would need 2 return tickets for this but this seems alot cheaper.
So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on other routes or could give me a few tips
I'm no that interested in big cities and I wouldn't want to be on the bus every day of those weeks i'm travelling.
Thanks in advance
