Hi..
I ll be going to hk mid dec.. any cheap and clean accomadation anyone can recommend? I came across this "Man Hing Lung" hotel in Kowloon which seems clean and is very affordable. Just wondering if anyone has stayed there before or heard abt it? ya know, pictures online can be deceiving =)
Another thing, the weather during the period of 13-20dec, will it be very cold? What kind of clothing will i need? Cos I'm basically very much afraid of the cold..
Lastly, what are the major places I shld visit besides Victoria Peak?
Thanks thanks..

Hey,
I was in Hong Kong in June. I stayed at: Noble Hostel, you can reserve online through one of the hostel websites. The place was clean, tidy, pretty cheap ($20 private room). Or you can contact them directly or go to their webpage, www.noblehostel.com.hk. The Lonely Planet guide is very good, has good walks, and tours. Message me if you have questions.

Hi h_ping50

Welcome to Hong Kong!

Suggestions for your sightseeing:

HK Island
- Hong Kong Park
- Man Mo temple
- Victoria Peak (Best time to go there is around 5 - 6pm, then you can have both Hong Kong's day- & night-views)
- Repulse Bay with Tin Hau temple, Stanley Market and finish at Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter (harbor).
In Hong Kong Island, taking tram from North to South. It just costs around HK$2 and you can see the Island slowly.
If you're more for pubs & bars, Stanley in the evening is also a good choice!

Nature
- Lama Island
- Cheung Chow
- Lantau Island with the big Buddha
- Fishermen village of Tai O
- Sai Kung (in New Territories)

Shopping
- The Pacific Place (HK Island)
If you leave from Hong Kong Island to Kolowoon from HK Island or vice-versa, take the ferry. (around HK$3) fun!.
- Ocean Center, which is just close to the pier on the Kowloon side
- Tsim Sha Tsui, you will find these stores of cameras, telephones and tailors. Walking along Nathan Rd to Mong Kok, have a look at the Bird Market and Fish Market. You may also love to visit Flower market, which is near to Bird & Fish Markets in Mongkok. (Go there with public transport, you can take train to Mong Kok railway station)

In Sham Shui Po, electronic products for computer, games. Golden Computer Center. Cheung Sha Wan road is a great place to pick up the latest fashions at the wholesale prices, and Flea Market (jade, watches, cellular, etc.) on Apliu Street open from noon to 10 pm. Beside you can visit Ladies Market in Mong Kok, open from noon to 12 pm.

Night life
To visit Temple Street In Yau Ma Tei at night (kind of flea market).
In Tsim Sha Tsui, << promenade of the stars, fabulous view for the other side of harbor>>. Lan Kwai Fong on HK side, live music and bars.

Besides visiting panoramic places, you shouldn't miss trying Chinese foods in Hong Kong. Dim Sum can be found nearly in all chinese restaurants in the morning!

Write back when you return from Hong Kong! Love to hear your expereience!

Wish you have an enjoyable trip to Hong Kong.

Cheers,
Polly
