I'm planning a trip to Oz for six weeks in Feb which I'll hopefully be able to book by the end of the month. I'm planning on going into Trailfinders or a similar company and doing it all through them.
Is it best to pre-book things I want to do or should I leave some of it 'til I'm there to get the best deal? Are there other, cheaper companies I should consider? If it's a case of ten quid here and there I'm not going to bother traipsing round different companies. Are they all pretty much the same? It's their advice and expertise I'd be looking for too.
Any advice/thoughts, much appreciated.
you should defenatly wait until you are down here in australia you can always get a great deal down here it is always cheaper for you to book your trips down here then back home because you will always get special rates down here in oz for instance you ccan get your east coast trips down here for under 500 pound includes whitsundays 2 days 2 nights sailing, fraser island 2 nights 3 days, cape tribulation 2 days 1night, great barrier reef trip,3 hour dolphin kayaking, plus 11 nights accom plus your bus pass from cairns to melbourne then you can take the bus over night 3 nights on that pass to save you more nights accom.
hope that is some help for you have a good 1 and live the dream
Thanks very much. I've been hearing from friends that the best way to go about it is to book the first few nights of accomodation/travel and any big trips (like NZ) over here, then leave the rest 'til I'm actually in Oz.
Im also from Leeds and I booked my trip from Sta Travel towards the bottom of Eastgate. The guys in there were very helpful and offered a lot of advice on where I'm going (Thai/Oz). They also sorted me out with a decent price on my flights. It might be worth nipping to talk to them when you're in town even if you have no plans to book, its always better talking face to face! I've never used Trailfinders but I've heard good things about them. Other then them two I cant really think of any other RTW companies in Leeds other then the big travel shops
The only things I have prebooked so far is a weeks accommodation, the trips/activities I will book when Im there, Im sure you'd always get better deals whilst there (you can always go online to book when your there anyway).
Any other questions then fire away
Thanks Pazz, that's really useful. I'll pop into Sta next time I'm in town.
When are you off to Oz?
