I did a stopover in Hong Kong on the way to NZ last year and stayed at Dragon Hostel. Most budget places are in Kowloon, and many are inside buildings which contain other guesthouses as well as other businesses. Dragon Hostel is in Mong Kok, and close to Nathan Road (the main road running through Kowloon) so it's a good, central area to stay in.

Agree with Bex. After extensive research before visiting HK last year I decided on Dragon Hostel and I wasn't disappointed. Walking distance to a number of attractions, Nathon Rd for buses and underground rail network. The manager (if still the same) was helpful with any enquiry including organising my visa in to China. If you have a late departure they will chain your luggage for the day at no cost. My main tip would be to have some idea of what you want to see if you have limited time available. I found HK fascinating and I hope you do to. Safe travels.

Hey, I'll be in HK from June 2nd for 2 weeks. Staying in Yes Inn on Kings Road. Didn't like the look of the Nathan Rd hostels. If I'm not enjoying it though may check out this Dragon one :)

Thanks.

If you're there at the same time and would like to meet up I'd be happy to. First time so far away, bit nervous!

Hi

I read about Yess Inn and it doesn't sound too bad (well except for the name!) I have heard good things about Dragon Hostel but I think they only do private rooms which would work out more expensive.

I arrive on the 27th May but only for 2 nights so looks like we wont be there at the same time, H
Are you in Australia at the mo?

Have a good time

Lexi

I'm staying in Yes Inn by City Garden and I've got to say I think I've landed on my feet. It's still not as big as European hostels but staff friendly enough and I had a good first night.

Let you know if I get back and my bags been stolen though :p
