Buying Land in Belize

Hello everyone

I was just wondering if anyone has been to belize. I was thinking of retiring down there but have not found a good place to buy land to build a house. I did come across this site. -snip- seems nice. Does anyone know anything about this place. Any info would be great.

I was there for a week in March this year. Interesting little country. Spent most of my time at a place called DuPlooy's Jungle Lodge, a few miles from San Ignacio and very close to the Guatemalan border. People were very friendly, and it's an interesting feeling to visit, for instance, San Ignacio. It's just like the rest of Central America (the "ambience"), but everything is in English. Belize City, on the other hand, gives you the feeling of being in the Caribbean. So, very different ambience, depending on where you plan to be.

I live in the south of Belize - feel free to contact me for information! Most property still seems to be advertised and sold through word of mouth, so the best idea is to visit the country, travel to all the districts, decide where you feel most comfortable, and then start asking around!

If you like a fairly simple life then Belize is a fabulous country.
