Me and my girlfriend have booked a RTW trip starting mid novemeber 2009 and ending in the middle of march 2010.
We are going to New York for a week, L.A for a week, Fiji for 2 weeks, New Zealand and Australia both for just over a month and Thailand for 3 weeks.
We are planning to go on a budget of between £4000 - 4500 each, do you think this will be enough?
To get around NZ and Oz we were thinking of the both the kiwi and oz experience, anyone got any good suggestions for what the cheapest ways to see fiji and thailand are?
I think that's a nice amount of money for your trip. I can't see you running out of cash if you take it nice and steady for the first couple of weeks or so. That way - even though you're doing different countries with much varied costs of living, you should know how things are progressing. And I think the word 'Progressing' is the correct word to use. It sounds like it's gonna be easy.
Absolutely the key is slow travel, couchsurfing and hostels. Your budget should be just fine as long as you watch the cash flow. Plan before you leave, but don't rigidly stick to the plan. The best things happen when you veer off course a little bit...
