I missed the whole "Bling" thing.

Blinq in a nutshell:

AFAIK the exchanges with Redpaddy (and my post asking them to quit it both) were the reason Blinq left.

aiaiaiai....I wasn't aware of this. Not nice! Now I want Blinqy to come back:(

Yeah, my thoughts too. I really regretted writing that post when I saw that Blinq's account was inactive. I hope it wasn't too harsh, what do you think?

You are absolutely not to blame, that is obvious.

Maria - you are not to blame, as Wouter has stated. As for being too harsh - no - you even said pretty please. You asked them very politely to keep their little pissing match out of the forums and they both can consider themselves lucky they didn't carry it over into GT, NA or CA/SA as they would have heard from me without the "pretty" in front of the "please". Upon further inquiry, Blinq received a subtle warning from The Powers That Be which he did not accept with grace, subsequently choosing to inactivate his own account. Yes, he was quite helpful and informative, just had issues with a higher authority. Only time will tell if he changes his mind and resurfaces as Blinqy. (Not sure if one can reactivate their account without making the request to Admin. If not, he'd have to create a new account with a new username.)

Don't regret wanting to keep the threads from becoming little battlefields. ;)

Hey t_maia, I doubt your response was a problem. It was a more than reasonable request considering the direction that thread was taking.

There was also at least one moderator message sent to Blinq that I'm aware of following some of those posts. Obviously, people choose to react in different ways. We've sent members messages like that in the past, warning them to chill a little, and they usually aren't taken badly. With Wocca, I think we sent him about 100

I think it's a shame Blinq chose to leave as well, considering most of his posts were actually quite useful.

Hehe, that's the gentlest 'harsh' post I've ever seen - have you ever read the thorn tree boards??

This is much nicer than Thorn Tree (my opinion anyway). TT, to me, was too many people blowing their own trumpets - far too often. If you said tha sea was blue somewhere - and another post insisted it was more an aquamarine shade of mauve - a whole battle would start. Then people would go on about how much they've done more than you - and daddy is a brain surgeon millionaire blah blah blah blah etc. etc.
TP is much more cuddly And (I hope) so say all of us.

I have and there is a reason I don't go there much. I remember asking a bunch of questions about travelling to Turkey as a muslim woman, specifically for spots were I could swim. (Either at a closed-off beach or at a public swimming pool that was sex-segregated.) Harmless and reasonable question, huh? Instead I got a lot of very angry replies (50+) calling me all sorts of names (whore was among the nicer ones) and my account was suspended by the moderators for "trolling". In the end I found the answer to my question through google with the help of a friend who speaks Turkish.

From reading Blinq's posts I guessed that handling him would take kid's gloves. But I've got a mild form of Asperger's and I don't always get people. I suppose that's why I asked. It is hard for me to react appropriate. Especially sarcasm confuses me a lot of times.

The best thing about TP is that the moderators are still real people who take the time to look at the issue, not some automated robot who automatically deletes reported posts.

The best researchers are a little OCD.
And the best researchers have nimble fingers and a taste for Red Bull.

Thats the vibe I got from that guys posts that were linked.
Hopefully he will be back, I think a few members like that are a huge asset to this type of website.
