Hey ya'll been a while since I've been here to TP, been travelling all over Japan, China, Philippines, and Thailand...

..well, in a few days I plan to head to Dumaguete, I have absolutely no reason to go there, just totally for fun and I have ZERO info about the place

Anyone been there? and know of the best possible hotel there is in Duma?

I'd really like to have gym, internet, and pool

I haven't been to Dumaguete but I go to Sipalay which is down the coast from Dumaguete and I can tell you that it is amazing there! Look up Sugar beach and see the resorts. There are only a few: Sulu Sunset, Driftwood Village, Takatuka plus a couple more I cant remember the names of.
None of them have pool ( they are all on the beach) or Gym (Swim in the sea for exercise) or good internet (you are on the beach, why worry about the internet?). But driftwood has a great bar and does lovely food while Sulu Sunset has the best affordable accomodation. It is a very laid back place, no roads lead there (you have to get a boat or a bike ride followed by a walk followed by a river crossing) but the resorts will pick you up in the town of Sipalay.

Well thanks man :)

By the way, need internet, I travel a LOT, but what allows me to travel is my internet business, so the least I can do is make sure my biz is 100% operating while I'm out travelling.

But also, I'm actually looking to stay in the city for now since it's just my 1st time there to Duma

Let us know what Dumaguete is like when you have been there, I keep meaning to go there but as yet haven't managed it. We have some friends who are scuba diver instructors there, so if you go scuba diving let me know and I can give you their details.

zachary, I stayed in Palwa hotel while visiting Dumaguete in June, 2008. There is no swimming pool and gym in the hotel, but I can recommend it regarding good price/quality balance.

thanks guys, yea palawa is right near my current hotel, Check Inn, it's really cheap (800/night) with free internet, SUPER cheap laundry, and great location too, near ATMs and Mcdo and and a nice park and all :)

I really like Dumaguete, I'll probably visit here at least a few times/year :)
