Hello fellow travellers,

I am planning to visit the lovely city of Bratislava this summer. This is my first visit and I am looking for an affordable place to stay for, say, three weeks. I will be joined by my girlfriend who lives there, but we're having trouble finding an affordable place for the duration of three weeks. Most places that advertise online are priced rather steeply for my budget, and even worse, they charge per person-night, which doubles our expenses (ideally she'd move in with me while I am visiting).

I was wondering if anyone knows of a nice apartment that can be rented for three weeks, or even a full month, at a price not exceeding 600€ or thereabouts. I'm asking here because, having spent several years in Belgrade, I know that many students leave the capital over the summer, and wouldn't mind subletting their places with the consent of the landlord. What are your experiences? Can you suggest something that doesn't break my bank?

Best,
Zoran

You'll be lucky!! An average hostel will cost you more than that, although you could - if you search around the back streets, find a very seedy one for around €250 each. They're few and far between though - and not very special.
A very 'Run of the mill' apartment in B'slava will set you back around €1,200 - €1,500 for four weeks.

I would try contacting a lot of people in Bratislava with exactly that question. Go to www.couchsurfing.com, sign up and message all the 100+ couchsurfing members in Bratislava. It will be quite a bit of work, but it seems to me the best chance of finding something that you can afford.

Redpaddy and t_maia, thank you very much. I will keep looking and post my experiences here for future visitors.
